BRAKE DRUM, REPLACE
- Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Install a bolt in each bolt hole located in the drum, tighten bolts alternately to remove drum.
- Reverse procedure to install.
BRAKE SHOE, REPLACE
- Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove brake drum as previously described.
- Remove parking brake cable.
- Remove shoe hold-down springs.
- Remove tension spring using tension spring puller No. 09921-00010-000 or equivalent.
- Remove the trailing shoe, then the leading shoe.

- Remove four drive shaft bolts.
- Put match marks on each of the flange yoke and companion flange of front differential.
- If this operation should fail to be performed, drive shaft may emit abnormal noise or vibration during running.
- Set drive shaft on a vise. Remove snap ring using a hammer and a standard screwdriver.
- Never clamp balancer weight section of driveshaft in a vise.
