REMOVAL

Grand Wagoneer & J-Series Truck

• Drain and discard ^2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder front reservoir.
• Raise and support vehicle.
• Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
• Press caliper piston to bottom of bore using suitable screwdriver or C-clamp.
• Remove caliper mounting bolts.
• Remove caliper by lifting upward and out of shield and support.
• Disconnect brake hose at caliper.

• Remove and discard ^2/3 of brake fluid from largest master cylinder reservoir.

Service brakes must be properly adjusted before adjusting parking brake mechanism.

• Fully apply and release parking brake lever approximately five times.
• Pull parking brake lever up to 5th click, then raise and support vehicle.
• Install adjustment gauge tool J-34651 onto an inch lb. torque wrench, then apply a 45-55 inch lb. load to cable.
• Adjust equalizer nut until gauge pointer is in Green range, then repeat Step 1.

• On models equipped with Rear Wheel Anti-Lock brakes (RWAL), connect one end of a suitable hose to bleeder valve on RWAL hydraulic valve and submerge other end in a glass container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
• Pump brake pedal several times, then hold pedal down firmly.
• With pedal firmly depressed, open bleeder valve until pedal fades to floor, then close bleeder valve.
• Repeat procedure until a continuous flow of brake fluid is released from bleeder valve. Ensure a fluid level is maintained in master cylinder at all times.
