- Close drain plugs at engine block and bottom left side of radiator.
- Push on connection flange of coolant hose at bottom of radiator, and install locking element for connection flange.
- Unscrew cap on expansion tank, then screw on adapter flange tool No. VAG 1274/1, or equivalent, and extend with an auxiliary hose.
- Open hose clamp, pull back coolant hose so vent hole is not concealed by connection.
- Open bleed screw on coolant pipe below expansion tank
- Pour coolant into system tank, while observing bleeder screw.

- Remove master cylinder as outlined under "Hydraulic Brake System."
- Disconnect hydraulic lines from booster/servo.
- Remove brake booster/servo attaching bolts.
- Disconnect booster pushrod from brake pedal.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Adjust push rod length to 9.04-9.08 inches from face of booster/servo unit to center of clevis hole.
- Torque booster mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
