- Drain cooling system into suitable container.
- Remove accessory drive belts as equipped and the fan.
- Disconnect all hoses from water pump.
- Remove alternator upper and lower mounting braces, if necessary.
- Remove pump attaching bolts and remove water pump, Figs. through .
- Reverse procedure to install. Torque water pump attaching bolts to 30 ft. lbs.

- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove stabilizer shaft link.
- Insert a drift or a flat-bladed tool into caliper and rotor in order to prevent rotor from turning.
- Remove front wheel drive shaft nut.
- Disconnect tie rod ball stud from steering knuckle.
- Separate ball joint from steering knuckle.
- Use hub spindle remover tool No. J 28733-B or equivalent in order to remove front wheel drive axle from front wheel drive shaft bearing. Partially install front wheel drive axle nut in order to protect threads.
