Do not smoke or allow an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel system related components. The highly flammable vapor mixtures may ignite, resulting in serious personal injury.
Obtain the vehicle owner's radio theft protection code, then disconnect the battery ground cable. Briefly open fuel filler cap to relieve system pressure, then close it again.
After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven while it relearns its adaptive strategy.

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Front, Bolted Inner Joint -> Front, Splined Inner Joint -> Rear

Front, Bolted Inner Joint
- Remove sound insulation.
- Remove drive axle bolts on wheel side.
- For axles with intermediate shaft, remove hex-combination bolt of drive axle threaded connection.
- For all axles, remove wheel.
- For axles with intermediate shaft, unbolt drive axle from intermediate flange.
- For axles without intermediate shaft, remove drive axle from transmission flange.
- For all axles, press CV joint out of wheel bearing unit using a brass drift (lightly tap if required).
- Remove drive axle.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Torque wheel lug nuts to 89 ft. lbs.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disconnect electrical connector at Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor.
- Remove engine cover.
- Remove and discard cable tie over protective sleeve.
- Disconnect electrical connector at starter.
- Fold back protective sleeve, remove nut at starter solenoid B+ terminal, and remove connector terminal.
- Remove ground cable from starter.
