ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT
The electronic control unit is located beneath the lefthand side of the rear seat.
- Turn ignition switch to the Off position.
- Remove rear seat.
- Remove spring retaining electrical connector, then disconnect electrical connector.
- Remove screws securing control unit.
- Reverse procedure to install.
COMBINATION RELAY
Coupe Quattro & 80/90
Relay is located under instrument panel in auxiliary relay panel, position 1. Ensure ignition switch is in Off position prior to removal or installation.

The Bosch ABS 2 LED-Tester or an equivalent Must be used during test procedures. Connect tester per manufacturers instructions.
POWER SUPPLY
- Check battery for full charge.
- Check that fuses 3, 12 and anti-lock brake power supply relay fuses are satisfactory. The anti-lock brake power supply relay fuse is located on top of the power supply relay.
- Check for continuity between ABS control unit connector terminal 13 and ground, at battery ground cable. Fig. .
- Turn ignition switch to the Off position.
- Check for continuity between ABS control unit connector terminal 10 and ground.

- Remove bleeder screw from one front brake caliper.
- Connect gauge set VW 1310 or equivalent, then bleed gauges.
- Install brake pedal depressor, between brake pedal and driver's seat.
- Load brake pedal until gauge reads 725 psi.
- Watch gauge for 45 seconds....
