CALIPER REMOVAL
- Drain approximately2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder assembly.
- Raise and support vehicle, then mark position of wheel and remove tire and wheel assembly.
- If caliper is to be serviced or replaced, remove bolt securing inlet fitting, then disconnect brake hose, and plug end to prevent loss of fluid and contamination. Do not crimp brake hose, as this may damage internal structure of hose. If only shoe and lining assemblies are being replaced, do not disconnect brake hose from caliper.

CALIPER REMOVAL
- Drain approximately2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder assembly.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Loosen tension on parking brake cable at equalizer.
- Remove retaining clip from parking brake lever, if equipped, disconnect cable, then remove spring and damper, Fig. .
- Hold parking brake lever, remove locknut.
- Remove lever, lever seal, and anti-friction washer.
- Bottom piston into caliper bore to provide clearance between linings and rotor.
- Reinstall anti-friction washer, lever seal (sealing bead against housing), lever, and locknut.
