THERMO SWITCH TEST
- Remove thermo switch from radiator.
- Place temperature sensing portion of thermo switch in a container of water.
- Connect ohmmeter onto thermo switch terminals.
- Heat water.
- When the temperature of the water reaches approximately 180-190°F, continuity should exist between thermo switch terminals.
- Allow temperature of the water to drop to between 167-178°F. No continuity should exist in this range.
- If thermo switch does not operate as specified, replace thermo switch.

Amigo & Axiom
- Place steering wheel in straight-ahead position.
- Turn ignition switch to Off position.
- Remove SRS fuse SRS-1 from instrument panel lefthand lower fuse block.
- Disconnect driver's air bag yellow two-pin connector at steering column base.
- Remove two glove box lower mounting screws, then the glove box.
- Disconnect passenger's air bag yellow two-pin connector through glove box through glove box opening.

IMPULSE & STYLUS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove glove box and instrument panel lower reinforcement.
- Remove resistor connector, then the resistor.
- Reverse procedure to install.
AMIGO & PICKUP
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove trim panels and ducts as needed to gain access to duct between heater and blower units.
- Disconnect wiring harness connector to resistor.
- Remove screws securing resistor, then remove resistor from heater unit.
- Reverse procedure to install.
