  • Pump brake pedal several times, then hold pedal down firmly.
  • With pedal firmly depressed, open bleeder valve until pedal fades to floor, then close bleeder valve.

FRONT WHEEL SENSOR, REPLACE

  • Raise and support vehicle, then turn wheel outward to gain access to sensor.
  • Remove tie straps from sensor wiring from steering knuckle and brake hose.
  • Clean dirt and road splash from sensor and surrounding area. This is necessary to avoid sensor damage when removing.
  • Remove bolt attaching sensor to steering knuckle, then the sensor, Fig. .
  • Unseat grommet retaining sensor wire in wheelwell.
  • From inside the engine compartment, disconnect sensor wire connector from anti-lock harness plug. Remove sensor and wire.

  • Rotate adjuster screw until wheel locks, then back off screw approximately one turn.

  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove wheel and tire assemblies, then the brake drums.
  • Remove U-clip and washer (1) from parking brake lever pivot pin, Fig. , and discard clip.
  • Using suitable tool, remove primary and secondary return springs (2).
  • Remove spring retainers, hold-down springs, and retaining pins (8).
  • Install suitable clamps over ends of wheel cylinders.
  • Remove adjuster lever, adjuster screw, and spring (4) from brake shoes (5).
  • Remove brake shoes.
