Refer to Figs. through when replacing brake pads.
- Remove wheel.
- Remove the bottom caliper bolt, and turn caliper up as in Fig. .
- Remove following parts:
- Two anti-squeal springs.
- Two brake pads.
- Four anti-squeal shims.
- Two pad wear indicators.
- Four pad support plates.
- On models with four piston calipers, install new pad support plates.
- On all models, install pads as follows:
- Install wear indicators on pads.
- Apply disc brake grease to both anti-squeal shim. Then install shims on each pad.

MASTER CYLINDER
- Fill reservoir with fluid.
- Disconnect tubes from master cylinder. Then slowly depress brake pedal and hold.
- Block off outlet holes with fingers and release pedal. Repeat three or four times.
BRAKE LINES
Bleed wheel with longest brake line first, then work back to the master cylinder according to brake line length.
- Connect tube to brake cylinder.
- Depress pedal several times and hold. Loosen bleeder plug.
- When fluid stops coming out, tighten bleeder plug and release pedal. Repeat several times.

- Stop engine and depress brake pedal several times to reduce vacuum in the booster.
- Push pedal until resistance is felt. Measure distance, Fig. .
- If pedal freeplay is not .12-.24 inch, adjust pedal freeplay as follows:
- Adjust pedal freeplay by turning the pedal pushrod.
- Start engine and confirm that pedal freeplay exists.
- After adjusting pedal freeplay, check pedal height as outlined under "Brake Pedal Height,... "

- Prepare system for remaining checks as follows:
- Turn ignition switch to Off position.
- Depress parking brake pedal.
- Connect diagnosis check wiring tool No. 09843-18020 or equivalent, to terminals Ts and E1, Tc and E1 of check connector, Fig. .
- Do not depress brake pedal.
- Block wheels and start engine.
- Ensure the warning light changes from flashing to lighting up for one second, then to flashing again when the following operations are performed:
