Cooling Fans -> Passenger Cars Except Saturn -> LUMINA -> COMPONENT REPLACEMENT -> Coolant Fan, Replace -> DESCRIPTION -> Primary Cooling Fan Does Not Run -> Primary Cooling Fan Runs Continuously w/Engine Coolant Cool & A/C Mode Selector Off -> Secondary Cooling Fan Does Not Run -> Secondary Cooling Or Generator Fan Runs Continuously w/Engine Coolant Cool & A/C Mode Selector Off -> System Diagnosis -> SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & TESTING -> TROUBLESHOOTING
Vehicle: 1993 Cadillac Eldorado Sport 4.6 V8 GAS
DESCRIPTION
Each coolant fan is controlled by individual cooling fan relays. The primary cooling fan relay coil is grounded through the ECM when vehicle speed is less than the speed set by the ECM and the coolant temperature reaches 227°F with the A/C off, and 223°F with A/C on. The primary cooling fan runs until the ignition switch is turned off, or coolant temperature decreases to 220°F with A/C off, or 216°F with A/C on.
The secondary cooling fan relay coil is grounded through the ECM when the coolant temperature reaches 245°F. The contacts close and voltage is applied...

Cooling Fans -> Passenger Cars Except Saturn -> DEVILLE & 1992 FLEETWOOD -> COMPONENT REPLACEMENT -> Coolant Fan, Replace -> Coolant Fans Do Not Operate -> Coolant Fans Do Not Operate At High Speed -> Coolant Fans Do Not Operate At Low Speed -> DESCRIPTION -> SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & TESTING
Vehicle: 1993 Cadillac Eldorado 4.9 V8 GAS
DESCRIPTION
This system uses two coolant fans, wired in parallel, both fans run whenever cooling is required.
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has two coolant fan outputs, one each for high and low speed. When PCM low speed output is turned on at connector C2 (terminal 11), it grounds the low speed coolant fan relay's coil. If ignition switch is in the RUN position, the relay's contacts close, completing the circuit to the cooling fans. The coolant fan resistor lowers voltage to the left side coolant fan, which causes it to run at low speed. Since the...

Cooling Fans -> Passenger Cars Except Saturn -> METRO -> A/C Condenser Fan -> COMPONENT REPLACEMENT -> Cooling Fan, Replace -> DESCRIPTION -> Engine Cooling Fan -> Radiator Fan -> SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & TESTING -> Thermo Switch, Replace -> TROUBLESHOOTING
Vehicle: 1993 Cadillac Eldorado 4.9 V8 GAS
DESCRIPTION
Radiator Fan
When ignition switch is in On position, system voltage is applied through ignition fuse to radiator fan switch. Fan switch closes when engine coolant temperature reaches 208°F. With fan switch closed, voltage is applied to radiator fan motor. Since fan motor is permanently grounded, fan operates as soon as voltage is applied. When temperature falls below 199°F, fan switch opens and voltage to fan motor is interrupted.
A/C Condenser Fan
When ignition switch is in On position, system voltage is applied to dual pressure switch through h...

Passenger Cars
The Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) can maintain enough voltage to cause air bag deployment for up to 10 minutes after the ignition is turned Off and the battery is disconnected. Servicing the Supplemental air bag (SIR) system during this period may result in accidental deployment and personal injury.
