- Remove cylinder head bolts.
- Using a suitable hammer and gasket scraper, separate cylinder head from valve plate.
- Inspect all parts for damage, then separate valve plate from cylinder block.
- Inspect rear valves and discharge retainer for damage. If valve plate or cylinder head is to be used again, carefully remove gasket material with a gasket scraper. Replace damaged parts.
