- Raise and support vehicle, them remove rear wheels and tires.
- Back off adjusting nut on parking brake cable equalizer Fig. , until all tension is released from rear cables.
- Remove rear rotors as outlined under "Rotor, Replace."
- Remove parking brake shoe hold down clips and pins Fig. .
- Using a needle nose pliers or suitable spring tool, remove brake return springs.
- Remove shoes and adjuster, note position of components for later assembly.
- Remove operating cam and lever if necessary as follows:

Brake System Pressure Relief
The normal working pressure of the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is 1600-2100 psi. System pressure must be released prior to servicing any system component. Failure to reduce system pressure will result in personal injury. Release ABS system pressure as follows:
- Turn ignition switch to Off position.
- Apply brakes 45-50 times (until pedal is firm) to reduce system pressure.
