- Using tool No. J-33939 or equivalent hold clutch plate, then remove clutch assembly to shaft center bolt, Fig. .
- Using puller tool No. J-33944-A and forcing screw tool No. J-33944-4 or suitable equivalents, remove driveplate Fig. .
- Remove adjusting shims Fig. .
- Using snap ring pliers, remove snap ring.
- Remove pulley using a suitable puller, Fig. .
- Disconnect field coil lead wire, then remove field coil.

The system must be disarmed prior to disconnecting any air bag system electrical connectors or servicing any system components or other components located near an air bag system electrical connector. Obtain the radio security code prior to disconnecting the battery ground cable. Establishing the engine control module and automatic transmission control module settings may be required using scan tool No. VAG 1551, or equivalent.

These engines do not require a specified bleed procedure. Set heater control on "Warm" then fill with coolant until expansion tank is full, run engine and continue to fill until level remains constant. Install expansion tank cap, then continue to run engine until cooling fan operates. Check coolant level and top off as necessary.
