BRAKE SERVICE PROCEDURES FOR 1995 Buick Park Avenue AUTOMOBILES
Includes anti-lock brakes, disc, drum, power and hydraulic brake services diagnostics and procedures for domestic and imported 1995 Buick Park Avenue cars and light trucks from 1990+.
Drum Brakes -> Type 6 -> Inspection -> Adjuster Mechanism -> Backing Plate -> Brake Drums -> Brake Linings & Springs -> Parking Brake Cable
Vehicle: 1995 Buick Park Avenue 3.8 V6 GAS
- If any parts are of doubtful strength or quality due to heat discoloration, or are worn, replace them.
- Inspect wheel cylinder dust boots for signs of excessive wear or damage. If any leakage is apparent replace wheel cylinder.
- Clean dirt and/or rust from brake drum, backing plate and all other components. Do not use compressed air or dry brush to clean brake parts. Many brake parts contain asbestos fibers which, if inhaled, can cause serious injury. Clean brake parts with a water soaked rag or a suitable vacuum cleaner to minimize airborne dust.

Disc Brakes -> AC-Delco Single Piston Front Disc Brake (Type 2) -> Precautions
Vehicle: 1995 Buick Park Avenue Ultra 3.8 V6 GAS
- Grease or any other foreign material must be kept off the brake linings, caliper, surfaces of the disc and external surfaces of the hub, during service procedures. Handling the brake disc and caliper should be done in a way to avoid deformation of the disc and nicking or scratching brake linings.
- If inspection reveals rubber piston seals are worn or damaged, they should be replaced immediately.
- During removal and installation of a wheel assembly, exercise care so as not to interfere wi...

Hydraulic Brake Systems -> Troubleshooting -> Master Cylinder Internal Fluid Leakage Check -> Road Test
Vehicle: 1995 Buick Park Avenue 3.8 V6 GAS
When troubleshooting the hydraulic brake system, perform the following checks and inspections as outlined below. If problem still exists within system, refer to Fig. first, then to Figs. and as necessary.
Master Cylinder Internal Fluid Leakage Check
Start engine and depress the brake pedal. If the pedal gradually falls under constant pressure, the hydraulic system may be leaking. Raise the vehicle on a lift and check all tubing lines and backing plates for signs of leakage. It may be necessary to ...

Hydraulic Brake Systems -> Brake System Bleed -> Bleed Sequence -> Hydraulic System Flush -> Manual -> Pressure
Vehicle: 1995 Buick Park Avenue Ultra 3.8 V6 GAS
Manual
Pressure bleeding is recommended for all hydraulic systems. However, if a pressure bleeder is unavailable, use the following procedure. Brake fluid damages painted surfaces. Immediately clean any spilled fluid.
- Remove vacuum reserve by pumping brakes several times with engine off.
- Fill master cylinder reservoir with clean brake fluid. Check fluid level often during bleeding procedure; do not let reservoir fall below half full.
- If necessary, bleed master cylinder as follows:
- Disconnect master cylinder forward brake line connection until fluid flows from reservoir. Reconnect ...

Anti-lock Brakes -> Bonneville, Eighty Eight, LeSabre, LSS, Ninety Eight & Park Avenue -> Description -> ABS Warning Lamp -> Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) -> System Operation -> Wheel Speed Sensors
Vehicle: 1995 Buick Park Avenue 3.8 V6 GAS
System Operation
The purpose of the anti-lock brake system, Fig. and , is to prevent wheel lock-up under heavy braking conditions on virtually any road surface. When a wheel locking condition exists, the Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) assembly isolates each wheel's hydraulic circuit, then begins modulation of fluid pressure according to wheel speed inputs to the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) or Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM). The PMV is controlled by the EBCM.
Modulation occurs by means of three ABS modes: pressure hold, pressure reduce and pressure in...
