- Release parking brake.
- With engine running, depress brake pedal and measure pedal reserve distance, Fig. .
- If pedal reserve distance is not 2.76 inch on ES300 and 1995-96 LS400, 2.95 inch on GS300, 3.5 inch on SC300 and SC400 or 3.15 inch on 1993-94 LS400 models while applying 110.2 lbs. of force, check all brake components for correct operation.

- If pedal height is not 5.81-6.2 inches on ES300, 5.3-5.7 inches on 1993 GS300, 5.35-5.75 inches on 1994-96 GS300, 5.92-6.31 inches on SC300 and SC400 or 5.62-6.02 inches on 1993-94 LS400, or 5.26-5.66 inches on 1995-96 LS400 models, adjust pedal height as follows:
- Remove the undercover and lower dash finish panel as outlined under "Instrument Panel, Replace" in " Dash Panel Service" .
- Disconnect stop lamp switch.
- Loosen stop light switch locknut, then back out switch.

Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- Turn ignition switch to On position.
- Disconnect short pin from DLC1, Fig. , then connect diagnosis check wire tool No. 09843-18020, or equivalent, to terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1 or DLC2.
- Read diagnostic trouble code from ABS warning light on combination meter. If no diagnostic trouble code appears, inspect diagnostic circuit or ABS warning circuit.
- After completing check, disconnect terminals Te and E1 and turn off display. If more than one diagnostic trouble code is stored, lowest number will appear first.
