Replacement

  • Remove brake hose from caliper assembly, by removing union bolt and gaskets.
  • Remove caliper bolts from torque plate, then the caliper.
  • Remove brake pads and hardware as outlined in "Brake Pad Service."
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    • Use new gaskets on union bolt and tighten union bolt to specifications.
    • Tighten caliper bolts to specifications.
    • Fill reservoir, then bleed brakes and check for leaks.

  • Remove front wheels and temporarily secure discs with lug nuts.
  • Inspect brake pad thickness through caliper inspection hole.
  • Replace brake pads if thickness is less than .039 inch.
  • Remove bolt securing caliper flexible hose to front shock absorber.
  • Remove bottom side installation bolt, then lift up caliper and suspend securely.
  • Do not disconnect flexible hose from caliper.

  • On IS300, ES300 & RX300 remove brake fluid reservoir.
  • On all models, remove master cylinder boot, Figs. through .
  • Remove set screw, then the reservoir tank. Remove cap and strainer from reservoir.
  • Remove two grommets, then place cylinder in suitable vise.
  • On models less TRAC and VSC, push piston in and remove stopper bolt.
  • On models with TRAC, push pistons in and remove No. 1, then No. 2 stopper bolts.
  • On models with VSC, push in piston with a screwdriver, then remove straight pin by turning over cylinder body. Tape screwdriver tip before using it.
