- On S430 and 2000 S500 models, remove glove compartment.
- On 2000 CL500 models, remove instrument panel upper section and passenger air bag.
- On all models, remove mounting bolt and lever.
- Remove mounting bolt and cover.
- Disconnect actuator motor connector.
- Remove activated charcoal filter flap actuator.
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Disconnect wear sensor connector.
- On models equipped with cam on housing, remove lower mounting bolt, steady sliding pin and remove floating caliper, securing with suitable hook.
- On all models, inspect boots for damage and replace as required.
- Remove brake pads.
- Remove some brake fluid from reservoir.
- Pull wear sensor out of lining back plate.
- Push piston back using resetting tool No. 000 589 52 43 00, or equivalent.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Clean brake pad contact surface in carrier and cylinder housing.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Disconnect exhaust system and shields, Fig. .
- Remove fuel pump cover.
- Remove seat belt bracket mounting bolts.
- Remove mounting bolts and driveshaft reinforcement bridge.
- Remove clamping nut.
- Loosen intermediate bearing mounting bolts.
- Remove mounting bolts and nuts, then disconnect front driveshaft from transmission. Flexible disc remains on driveshaft.
- Remove mounting bolts and nuts, then disconnect rear driveshaft from differential carrier. Flexible disc remains on driveshaft.
