- Close drain plugs at engine block and bottom of radiator.
- Remove expansion tank filler cap.
- Install filler adapter tool No. VAG 1274/8, or equivalent, onto expansion tank.
- Connect tube tool No. VAG 1274/10, or equivalent, onto adapter.
- If adapter and tube are not available, remove expansion tank mounting hardware and temporarily raise it approximately four inches.

- Connect VAG 1551, or equivalent scan tool to the diagnostic connector.
- Operate scan tool until display shows "Select Function XX."
- Press scan buttons 0 and 7 to select "Code Control Module" function, then press "Q" button to confirm input.
- "Code Control Module" and " Enter Code Number" should appear on the display.
