ES 300 & RX 300
- Drain engine coolant.
- On RX 300 models, remove outer cowl top panel, then the front upper suspension brace.
- On all models, disconnect timing belt from water pump pulley.
- Remove camshaft timing pulleys using tool No. SST 09960-01000, or equivalent.
- Remove No. 2 idler pulley.
- Disconnect engine wire from No. 3 timing belt cover, then remove cover.
- Remove water pump, Fig. .
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Remove front pillar garnish, front inside scuff plate, and front door opening cover, Fig. .
- Remove cowl side trim.
- Loosen screws from wheel pad, Fig. . Pull wheel pad out and disconnect air bag connector. Store air bag face up.

Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
- On ES 300, GS 300, GS 430, LS 430, RX 300 and SC 430 models, turn ignition switch to the ON position while pressing the air conditioner control AUTO button and R/F SW button simultaneously.
- On IS 300 models, connect Lexus hand held tester or equivalent to DLC3 and follow prompts on tester screen.
- On all models, inspect that all the indicators light up and go off at one second intervals four times in succession.
