- Warm engine and run at a constant 1500 RPM.
- Set fan switch to 4th position.
- Turn A/C switch to ON position.
- Set RECIRCULATE mode.
- Set temperature control lever to MAX COLD.
- Set VENT mode.
- Close all doors and windows.
- Measure ambient temperature, and high and low pressure side readings.
- If high and low pressure side readings are in shaded zones,Fig. through refrigerant system is normal.

- On models equipped with 4.0L engine, remove air intake duct and air cleaner.
- On all models, recover refrigerant as outlined under .
- Disconnect condenser to evaporator tube from condenser.
- Remove manifold and tube from condenser core.
- Remove mounting screws and tilt radiator back.
- Remove push pins and top seal.
- Remove mounting screws and condenser.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

- Check pulley bearing play and drag by rotating the pulley by hand, replace pulley if noisy or has excessive play/drag.
