- Press catches at heater core, then separate heater core from HVAC unit, Fig. .
- Discard self-adhesive core to housing seals.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Install new self-adhesive core to housing seals.
- If new heater core does not properly engage in HVAC housing, secure in place using two 3.2 x 20 MM screws.

Do not operate auxiliary water pump until coolant circuit has been vented. A pump running dry will soon fail.
2.7L Engine
- Remove engine appearance covers.
- Remove front bumper assembly.
- Lock header panel in service position as outlined under "Water Pump, Replace."
- Remove viscous fan. This has a lefthand thread. Rotate clockwise to loosen using wrench tool No. 3312 while counterholding with pin wrench tool No. 3212, or equivalents.
- Remove upper air ducts.
- Disconnect brake booster vacuum hose at firewall.
