Removal
- Remove master cylinder as outlined under .
- Remove charcoal vapor canister as required.
- Remove brake booster vacuum hose.
- Remove pedal return spring, clip, clevis pin and clevis locknut, Fig. .
- Remove brake booster nuts. Pull out booster and gasket.
Installation
- Adjust length of booster pushrod as follows:
- Install gasket on master cylinder.
- Install brake booster pushrod gauge tool No. 09737-00010, or equivalent, on gasket.
- Lower pin until its tip slightly touches the piston.
- Turn gauge tool upside down and set it on booster.

- Release parking brake.
- With engine running, depress brake pedal and measure pedal reserve distance, Fig. .
- On LS430 models, reserve height should be more than 2.36 inches at 110.2 ft. lbs. of pressure.
- On IS300 models, reserve height should be more than 3.90 inches at 110.2 ft. lbs. of pressure.
- On RX300 models, reserve height should be more than 4.80 inches at 110.2 ft. lbs. of pressure.
- On SC430 models, reserve height should be more than 3.94 inches at 44.1 ft. lbs. of pressure.

Master Cylinder
- Fill reservoir with fluid.
- Disconnect tubes from master cylinder. Then slowly depress brake pedal and hold.
- Block off outlet holes with fingers and release pedal. Repeat three or four times.
Brake Lines
Bleed wheel with longest brake line first, then work back to the master cylinder according to brake line length.
- Connect tube to brake cylinder.
- Depress pedal several times and hold, then loosen bleeder plug with pedal still held down.
- When fluid stops coming out, tighten bleeder plug and release pedal. Repeat several times.

- Remove air cleaner cover with air cleaner hose.
- Disconnect level warning switch connector.
- Remove brake fluid with suitable syringe.
- Remove brake lines with brake line wrench No. 09023-00100 and 09751-36011, or equivalents.
- Remove master cylinder mounting nuts, then the master cylinder and gasket.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Adjust length of booster pushrod before installation of master cylinder.
- After installation, fill brake fluid and bleed brake system.
- Inspect for brake fluid leaks.
- Inspect and adjust brake pedal.
