DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2005 Cadillac STS AUTOMOBILES

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove propeller shaft heat shield.
- Remove propeller shaft CV joint-to-differential flange bolts. Reference mark location of propeller shaft constant velocity (CV) joint to transfer case flange.
- Install a flat-bladed tool into notch on differential flange.
- Using a flat-bladed tool, carefully move propeller shaft toward rear of vehicle in order to release propeller shaft CV joint from differential pinion flange.
- Remove propeller shaft CV joint-to-transfer case flange bolts.

Left Front
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove left front tire and wheel assembly.
- Disconnect left outer tie rod end from steering knuckle. Do not loosen tie rod end jam nut.
- Insert a drift or punch into brake rotor and against brake caliper mounting bracket in order to prevent wheel hub and bearing from turning.
- Remove and discard wheel drive shaft spindle nut retaining wheel drive shaft to hub.
