BRAKE SERVICE PROCEDURES FOR 2005 Lexus GS430 AUTOMOBILES

- Fill reservoir with fluid.
- Disconnect tubes from master cylinder. Then slowly depress brake pedal and hold.
- Block off outlet holes with fingers and release pedal. Repeat three or four times.
Brake Lines
Bleed wheel with longest brake line first, then work back to the master cylinder according to brake line length.
- Connect tube to brake cylinder.
- Depress pedal several times and hold, then loosen bleeder plug with pedal still held down.
- When fluid stops coming out, tighten bleeder plug and release pedal. Repeat several times.

- Measure brake pedal height, Fig. .
- On RX300 models, pedal height should be 7.598-7.992 inches.
- On RX330 models, pedal height should be 5.906-6.299 inches.
- On ES300 and ES330 models, pedal height should be 5.673-6.067 inches.
- On LS430 models, pedal height should be 6.654-7.047 inches.
- On IS300 models, pedal height should be 6.063-6.457 inches.
- On all models, if pedal height measurements are not as specified, adjust as follows:
- Remove undercover and lower dash finish panel.
- Disconnect stop lamp switch.
- Loosen stop light switch locknut, then back out switch.

- Remove brake hose from caliper assembly, by removing union bolt and gaskets.
- Remove caliper bolts from torque plate, then the caliper.
- Remove brake pads and hardware as outlined under .
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Use new gaskets on union bolt and tighten union bolt to specifications.
- Tighten caliper bolts to specifications.
- Fill reservoir, then bleed brakes and check for leaks.

- Remove air cleaner cover with air cleaner hose.
- Disconnect level warning switch connector.
- Remove brake fluid with suitable syringe.
- Remove brake lines with brake line wrench No. 09023-00100 and 09751-36011, or equivalents.
- Remove master cylinder mounting nuts, then the master cylinder and gasket.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Adjust length of booster pushrod before installation of master cylinder.
- After installation, fill brake fluid and bleed brake system.
- Inspect for brake fluid leaks.
