Vehicle: 2005 MERCEDES-BENZ S600 5.5 V12 GAS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove front engine cover.
- Remove plastic cover over right headlamp.
- Remove radiator crossmember.
- Unclip coolant hose from fan shroud.
- Remove left and right air intake air ducts to air filter.
- Remove fan shroud clamps from radiator.
- Remove bolts from fan shroud brackets.
- Disconnect electrical connector from fan shroud, then remove and discard cable tie.
- Disconnect and ATF oil lines from radiator, plug lines and fittings.
- Remove coolant line bracket under fan shroud.
- Unhook fan shroud from radiator supports and remove upwards.

STARTER & ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2005 MERCEDES-BENZ S600 AUTOMOBILES

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Remove engine cover.
- Disconnect right HO2S electrical connectors.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove fasteners and sound insulator panels.
- Remove heat shield under right catalytic converter.
- Remove bolts and clamps, then disconnect right catalytic converter from turbocharger.
- Remove bolts and converter bracket at right side of transmission.
- Disconnect right catalytic converter at exhaust pipe clamp and flange.
- Loosen bolt for right catalytic converter bracket, then remove bolts and heat shield.
