DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2009 Cadillac STS AUTOMOBILES

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace -> Left Front -> Rear -> Right Front
Vehicle: 2009 Cadillac STS 3.6 V6 GAS
Left Front
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove left front tire and wheel assembly.
- Disconnect left outer tie rod end from steering knuckle. Do not loosen tie rod end jam nut.
- Insert a drift or punch into brake rotor and against brake caliper mounting bracket in order to prevent wheel hub and bearing from turning.
- Remove and discard wheel drive shaft spindle nut retaining wheel drive shaft to hub.
- Disconnect electrical connector from wheel speed sensor and reposition wiring harness away from ball joint. Be sure that wheel speed sensor wiring harness is repositioned away from ball ...

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove left front tire and wheel assembly.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove the propeller shaft heat shield.
- Remove the propeller shaft CV joint-to-differential flange bolts. Reference mark the location of the propeller shaft constant velocity (CV) joint to the transfer case flange.
- Install a flat-bladed tool into the notch on the differential flange.
- Using a flat-bladed tool, carefully move the propeller shaft toward the rear of the vehicle in order to release the propeller shaft CV joint from the differential pinion flange.
- Remove the propeller shaft CV joint-to-transfer case flange bolts.
