Discharge fuel system pressure.
Drain engine coolant into a suitable container.
Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal.
Remove V-bank cover sub-assembly.
Remove air cleaner hose assembly.
Disconnect fuel hose.
Disconnect fuel hose.
Disconnect fuel vapor feed hose assembly.
Disconnect eight fuel injector connectors.
Disconnect throttle position sensor connector.
Disconnect water temperature sensor connector.
Remove three bolts and separate engine wire harness.

STARTER & ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2009 Lexus GX470 AUTOMOBILES

Vehicle: 2009 Lexus GX470 4.7 V8 GAS

Disconnect cable from battery ground terminal.
Remove eleven clips and radiator upper support seal.
Remove fan and alternator V belt.
Separate two oil cooler hoses from fan shroud.
Remove three bolts and separate fan shroud from radiator.
Remove four nuts and separate fan with fluid coupling from engine.
Remove fan shroud and fan with fluid coupling from vehicle at same time.
Disconnect vane pump vacuum hose.
Remove nut, two bolts and vane pump assembly. Hand up hoses instead of detaching.
Disconnect alternator field connector.
