- Disconnect cable from battery ground terminal.
- Remove cool air intake duct seal.
- Remove lefthand engine room side cover.
- Remove V-bank cover.
- Remove air cleaner inlet.
- Remove V-ribbed belt.
- Drain engine coolant into a suitable container.
- Remove radiator inlet hose.
- Remove engine cover.
- Remove idler pulley sub-assembly.

STARTER & ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2009 Lexus IS350 AUTOMOBILES

- Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal.
- Remove cool air intake duct seal.
- Remove lefthand engine room side cover.
- Remove rear floor panel brace.
- Remove front center floor brace.
- Disconnect heated oxygen sensor.
- Remove front exhaust pipe assembly.
- Remove two bolts and ground cable from lefthand exhaust manifold sub-assembly.
- Remove bolt and engine wire bracket.
- Remove bolt and nut, and separate engine room relay block.
- Disconnect electrical connector for air fuel ratio sensor 1.
