- Remove circuit opening relay from instrument panel relay box, Fig. .
- Start engine and allow to idle until engine stalls. DTC P0171 system too lean may be set.
- Ensure engine will not restart.
- Remove fuel tank cap to relieve fuel tank pressure.
- Disconnect negative battery terminal.
- Install circuit opening relay.

If replacing the TPMS ECU, prior to removal, use a suitably programmed scan tool to read the registered transmitter identification number for all wheels and note them for registration.
- Connect a suitably programmed scan tool to DLC3 located under the LH side of the instrument panel.
- Using the scan tool, note the registered transmitter IDs that are stored in the old TPMS ECU.
