In addition, the disc rubbing surface must be non-directional and maintained at a micro inch finish to control erratic performance, promote long lining life, and equal lining wear of both left and right brakes.

- Raise and support rear of vehicle.
- Remove tire and wheel assembly, then remove brake drum. If brake lining is dragging on brake drum, back off brake adjustment by rotating adjustment screw.
- Using suitable pliers, remove adjuster lever spring,Fig. .
- Remove adjuster lever.
- Turn automatic adjuster screw out to expand shoes past wheel cylinder boot.
- Disconnect parking brake cable from parking brake lever.
