When overhauling master cylinder refer to Figs. through . Note the position of all parts as they are removed for proper installation.
- On models with attached reservoirs, remove reservoir installation screw, reservoir cap, brake fluid sensor, float, then reservoir, Figs. and .
- On models with separately mounted reservoirs, remove nipple, Figs. and .
- Use a wooden stick or dowel to depress primary piston into cylinder bore.
- On all models except Precis, with pushrod depressed, remove piston stopper bolt, then the piston stopper ring.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
- Remove lower lockpin, Figs. through , and lift caliper body upward, then support caliper with wire. Lockpin is coated with special grease. Use caution not to remove grease and ensure no dirt adheres to pin.
- Remove inner shim(s), anti-squeak shim and pad assemblies from support mounting.
- Remove pad clips.
- Measure hub torque with pad removed to aid in measuring brake drag torque after pad installation, Fig. .
