RWAL SYSTEM ELECTRIC CIRCUIT CHECK
The electrical circuit of RWAL system can be checked by measuring voltage of ECM connector terminals. RWAL ECM cannot be check by itself. If is strictly prohibited to connect voltmeter or ohmmeter to RWAL ECM with harness connector disconnected from it.
Battery must be fully charged to perform this test as terminal voltage will be directly affected by battery voltage.
- Remove RWAL ECM from body.
- Connect RWAL ECM harness coupler to RWAL ECM.
- Check voltage at each terminal of coupler connected. Refer to Fig. for voltage specifications.

- Raise and support vehicle, remove spindle cap.
- On sedan models, remove drum screws.
- On all models, unstake and remove spindle nut and washer, then release parking brake lever.
- Remove parking brake lever cover, then loosen parking brake cable locking nut.
- To increase clearance between shoe and drum, proceed as follows:
- Remove backing plate plug.
- Insert screwdriver into plug hole till its tip contacts shoe hold down spring, then push hold down spring as shown in Fig. .
- Using slide hammer and drum remover No. 09943-17911 or equivalent, pull off brake drum.
