AUDI, DISC BRAKES -> Teves Single Piston w/Dual Mounting Bolts, Front -> BRAKE PADS REPLACEMENT -> 100 -> 80/90

  • Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
  • Remove guide pin cap, then lower guide pin using a suitable allen wrench.
  • Remove brake hose clip from bracket on wheel bearing housing.
  • Swing caliper upward, remove brake pads, then ensure heat shield is in correct position in piston.
  • Push piston back into caliper housing. Always remove some brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir prior to installing new pads. When caliper piston is pushed back, fluid is forced out of caliper and into reservoir. After pads are installed, refill reservoir to MAX mark.

Do not smoke or allow an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel system related components. The highly flammable vapor mixtures may ignite, resulting in serious personal injury.

Obtain the vehicle owner's radio theft protection code, then disconnect the battery ground cable. Briefly open fuel filler cap to relieve system pressure, then close it again.

After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven while it relearns its adaptive strategy.

  • Raise and support vehicle, then remove washer and wheel.
  • Remove axle shaft flange, nut from link rod, and control arm to stabilizer bar to subframe mounting bolts.
  • Push control arm downward, then press axle shaft out of hub using a suitable puller.
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
