DESCRIPTION
Hydro-Boost II is an hydraulically operated power brake booster. The hydraulic brake booster consists of an open center spool valve and an hydraulic cylinder combined into a single housing. The power steering pump provides the hydraulic fluid pressure to operate both the power brake booster and the power steering gear.
A dual master cylinder is bolted to the brake booster and is operated by a pushrod projecting from the booster cylinder bore.

POWER BRAKE UNITS, GENERAL MOTORS -> Tracker Brake Booster -> BOOSTER SERVICE -> ASSEMBLE -> DISASSEMBLE

DISASSEMBLE
- Remove pushrod clevis and locknut.
- Install brake booster to brake mounting fixture, Fig. . Ensure booster vacuum pipe is clear of mounting fixture base and the booster mounting nuts are not over tightened.
- Turn fixture handle until No. 1 and No. 2 body tabs are aligned, Fig. .
- Remove booster from fixture, then separate body No. 1 and No. 2. This step must be performed with care because there is spring pressure between body No. 1 and No. 2.
- Remove booster piston spring, piston rod, boot, air cleaner and air cleaner separator from body No. 2.

DISC BRAKES, GENERAL MOTORS -> Delco-Moraine Single Piston Caliper -> CALIPER SERVICE -> ASSEMBLE -> DISASSEMBLE -> INSTALLATION -> REMOVAL

REMOVAL
- Siphon enough brake fluid out of the master cylinder to bring fluid level to1-3 full to avoid fluid overflow when the caliper piston is pushed back into its bore.
- Raise and support vehicle, remove front wheels.
- Using a C-clamp, as illustrated in Fig. , push piston back into its bore.
- Remove two mounting bolts and lift caliper away from disc.
DISASSEMBLE
- Disconnect hose from the caliper being careful not to lose copper washers.
- Remove caliper as outlined above.
- Drain brake fluid from caliper.

REMOVAL
- Remove caliper assembly as outlined above.
- Remove inboard pad with retainer spring. Dislodge outboard pad and position caliper on the front suspension so the brake hose will not support the weight of the caliper.
- Remove two sleeves from inboard ears of the caliper.
- Remove four rubber bushings from the grooves in each of the caliper ears.
INSTALLATION
- Lubricate new sleeves, rubber bushings, bushing grooves and mounting bolt ends with Delco Silicone Lube or equivalent.

Any time the brake drums are removed for brake service, the braking surface diameter should be checked with a suitable brake drum micrometer at several points to determine if they are within the safe oversize limit stamped on the brake drum outer surface.
