ANTI-LOCK BRAKES -> Type 1-Bosch ABS-3 Anti-Lock Braking System -> DESCRIPTION -> ANTI-LOCK BRAKE CONTROL MODULE (ABCM) -> HYDRAULIC ASSEMBLY -> PUMP/MOTOR ASSEMBLY -> WHEEL SPEED SENSOR (WSS)
Vehicle: 1991 Chrysler Daytona 2.5 L4 GAS
The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) prevents the wheels from locking up when braking, regardless of the surface conditions. This allows the car to stop in a shorter distance, and allows the driver to maintain directional control of the vehicle during heavy braking.
During normal braking conditions, the ABS operates like a conventional diagonally split, hydraulic power assist system. During heavy braking, however, each wheel's braking pressure is modulated according to its speed. To maintain vehicle stability, both rear wheels receive the same signal.
There are four major components,Fig...

HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM, CHRYSLER CORP. -> HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING & FLUSHING -> BENCH BLEEDING -> BLEEDING MASTER CYLINDER -> DESCRIPTION -> Eagle Medallion & Premier -> Except Eagle Medallion & Premier -> Manual Bleeding -> ON-VEHICLE SERVICE -> Precautions -> Pressure Bleeding
Vehicle: 1991 Chrysler Daytona 2.5 L4 GAS
DESCRIPTION
Bleeding the hydraulic brake system is necessary if air has entered the system. A few causes for this condition are low fluid level, a hydraulic fluid leak, a hydraulic line is opened, or replacement of a hydraulic system component. Symptoms can be noted by an improper or loss of brake operation, and/or a low or spongy brake pedal.
Flushing the hydraulic brake system is necessary if contaminates are found in the hydraulic system. A few causes for hydraulic system contamination are moisture, age of hydraulic system parts and fluid, or improper fluid...

Vehicle: 1991 Chrysler Daytona 2.5 L4 GAS
Certain components of the ABS system are not intended to be serviced individually. Attempting to remove or disconnect certain system components, may result in personal injury and/or improper system operation. Only the components with removal and installation procedures should be serviced.
Use the following general precautions whenever servicing the ABS system:
- If any welding work is to be performed using an arc welder, CAB should be disconnected.
- When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the CAB and modulator assembly 10-way connector should not be disconnected or connected.
- So...

HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM, CHRYSLER CORP. -> TYPE 1-COMPOSITE MASTER CYLINDER -> DESCRIPTION -> Installation -> MASTER CYLINDER OVERHAUL -> MASTER CYLINDER, REPLACE -> Removal -> RESERVOIR, REPLACE -> TESTING
Vehicle: 1991 Chrysler Daytona 2.5 L4 GAS
DESCRIPTION
This master cylinderFig. , is comprised of an aluminum body, pistons, springs, O-rings, cup seals, and a reinforced nylon reservoir. The bore of the aluminum body is anodized for durability, and to prevent corrosion and pitting. The reservoir caps contain diaphragms with precision slits for controlled equalization of pressure.
TESTING
Ensure the master cylinder compensates in both ports by applying the brake pedal lightly (engine running with power brakes) and observing brake fluid squirting up in the reservoir chambers. Due to a baffle incorporated in ...

HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM, CHRYSLER CORP. -> HYDRAULIC TUBING SERVICE -> DOUBLE FLARE/INVERTED SEAT
Vehicle: 1991 Chrysler Daytona 2.5 L4 GAS
Never use copper tubing as a replacement for steel tubing. Copper tubing is subject to fatigue cracking and corrosion which could result in brake system failure.
Steel tubing is used to transfer hydraulic pressure to the brakes. All fittings, tubing and hose should be inspected for rust, damage or defective flared seats. The tubing is equipped with a double flare/inverted seat or I.S.O. flare to insure more positive seating in the fitting.
DOUBLE FLARE/INVERTED SEAT
- Using the tool shown inFig. or equivalent, cut off the damaged seat or damaged tubing.
- Ream out any burrs or...
