DRUM BRAKES, CHRYSLER CORP. -> Type 2 & 3-Kelsey-Hayes & Varga Leading Trailing Drum Brakes -> REMOVAL

- Raise and support rear of vehicle.
- Remove tire and wheel assembly, then remove brake drum. If brake lining is dragging on brake drum, back off brake adjustment by rotating adjustment screw.
- Using suitable pliers, remove adjuster lever spring,Fig. .
- Remove adjuster lever.
- Turn automatic adjuster screw out to expand shoes past wheel cylinder boot.
- Disconnect parking brake cable from parking brake lever.
- On Type 2-Kelsey Hayes, using suitable tool, remove hold-down springs.
- Pull brake shoe assembly down and away from anchor plate, then remove brake shoe springs and adjusting screw assembly.

Inboard C/V joints have stub shafts splined into differential side gears, or intermediate shaft on right side of an equal length system. Driveshafts are spring loaded and are retained to side gears by constant spring pressure provided by spring contained in C/V joints.
