- Place driveshaft in a vise, using care to avoid damaging it.
- Remove bearing retaining snap rings. Some universal joints use injected nylon retainers in place of snap rings. During servicing, snap rings supplied with replacement universal joint assembly must be used.
- Position tool on shaft and press bearing out of yoke. If bearing cannot be pressed all way out, remove it using vise grips or channel lock pliers or strike center yoke with hammer. Mark yoke and shaft to ensure they will be reassembled in their same relative p...

- Remove wheel and brake caliper assembly, leaving brake hose connected, and hang caliper from body or suspension arm. Do not allow caliper to hang by brake hose.
- Remove hub cover assembly, then remove snap ring from drive axle.
- Remove knuckle and front hub assembly as a unit. Support lower control arm with suitable jack prior to disconnecting ball joints from steering knuckle.
- To remove left drive axle, slowly lower jack supporting control arm, then pull drive axle from differential carrier.
