• Remove caliper and linings.
• Drain brake fluid from caliper housing, then position housing in a vise.
• Pad area between piston(s) and caliper bridge, then apply compressed air to caliper fluid port to remove piston(s). If piston is seized and cannot be forced from caliper, tap lightly around cylinder bore area while applying air pressure. Use caution when applying air pressure, as piston(s) may develop considerable force from pressure build-up.

• Drain a small amount of brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
• Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
• Install an eight inch C-clamp on caliper housing and tighten clamp to bottom piston(s) in cylinder bore(s), then remove clamp. Do not use screwdriver or other edged tool to pry piston(s) from rotor.
• Remove key retaining screw, then using a hammer and drift, drive out caliper support key and spring.
• On single piston calipers, push caliper downward against spindle, then rotate upper end upward and out of spindle assembly.

Any time brake drums are removed for brake service, braking surface diameter should be checked with a suitable micrometer at several points to determine if they are within the safe oversize limit stamped on the brake drum outer surface. • Disconnect hydraulic lines from master cylinder, then remove master cylinder to brake booster retaining nuts and the master cylinder.
• Before installing cylinder, check distance from outer end of master cylinder pushrod to front face of booster assembly using suitable gauge block, Fig. . Pushrod length should be .980-.995 inch. Turn pushrod adjusting screw inward or outward until specified length is achieved.
