- Remove righthand seat and open rear wall cover.
- Disconnect alternator and starter battery power leads.
- Remove serpentine drive belt.
- Remove righthand mount bolt and loosen lefthand mounting bolt three turns, then gently tab bolt to loosen threaded bushed in alternator arm, use a suitable aluminum mandrel to tap bolt.

The Check Engine lamp will be illuminated when the ignition switch is in the on position with engine not running. When the engine is started, the lamp should go out. If the lamp remains lit, a diagnostic trouble code has been stored by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). After diagnosis and repair are complete, place ignition switch in on position without starting engine, then depress accelerator pedal fully for more than 11 seconds. ECU memory should be cleared and the Check Engine lamp should be reset.
