- Inspect brake components for damage and/or wear. Replace as necessary.
- Inspect wheel cylinders. Excessive fluid indicates cup leakage and need for wheel cylinder replacement.
- Inspect backing plate for evidence of axle seal leakage.
- Inspect backing plate attaching bolts. Ensure bolts are tight.
- Check adjuster operation. If adjusters are worn, frozen or loose, replace adjuster and backing plate assembly as required.
- Using fine emery cloth or other suitable abrasive, clean rust and/or dirt from shoe contact surface on backing plate.
