The caliper is mounted through bushings and sleeves by two through bolts threaded into an adapter. Two machined abutments on the adapter position and align the caliper fore and aft.   • Each backing plate has two adjusting hole covers; remove the rear cover and turn the adjusting screw upward with a screwdriver or other suitable tool to expand the shoes until a slight drag is felt when the drum is rotated.

When disassembling the master cylinder, note the position of all parts as they are removed for proper installation.

When disassembled, wash all parts in denatured alcohol or clean brake fluid only. Use an air hose to blow out all passages, orifices and valve holes. Air dry and place parts on clean paper or lint-free cloth.
