- Loosen idler pulley and remove drive belt from compressor clutch.
- Remove refrigerant lines from compressor manifolds.
- Disconnect clutch wires from wire connector.
- Remove bolt attaching top of compressor to compressor front bracket.
- Remove locknut and stud from compressor front lower inboard attachment at front bracket. If stud cannot be removed with locknut, install two 10 mm x 1.25 nuts on stud and remove stud.

- Drain cooling system below level of upper radiator hose.
- Remove upper radiator hose, then three retaining bolts from thermostat housing.
- Remove housing and thermostat as an assembly, discarding old gasket. Clean sealing surfaces with gasket scraper. Ensure not to gouge aluminum surfaces as these gouges may form leaks.
