- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- If equipped with A/C, remove screws securing air distribution flap housing to cowl and partially remove cover.
- Remove screws securing heater cover to cowl and remove cover.
- Remove resistor retaining bolts and lay resistor aside.
- Remove clamp and screws securing motor, then remove fan and motor assembly, Fig. .
- Reverse procedure to install.

COMPRESSOR CLUTCH DOES NOT ENGAGE
- Check condition of A/C system wires, connections and fuses.
- Check A/C compressor drive belt for wear or improper tension.
- Start engine, then turn A/C On.
- Using a jumper wire, briefly connect both blue wires on A/C pressure switch. Do not jump terminals longer than necessary. Damage will occur to clutch and A/C system.
- If A/C compressor clutch engages, system is low on refrigerant.

- Remove heater controls assembly.
- Connect ohmmeter to switch.
- Loosen adjusting screw on top rear of switch.
- Turn switch until switch is off in first detent, turns on past first detent but before second detent, and remains on in detents two through five.
- Tighten adjusting screw and reinstall assembly.
Temperature Lever Activated Switch
- Remove heater controls assembly.
- Connect ohmmeter to switch.
- Move temperature lever to detent.
