SYSTEM
The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) prevents the wheels from locking up when braking, regardless of the surface conditions. This allows the car to stop in a shorter distance, and allows the driver to maintain directional control of the vehicle during heavy braking.
During normal braking conditions, the ABS operates like a conventional diagonally split, hydraulic power assist system. During heavy braking, however, each wheel's braking pressure is modulated according to its speed. To maintain vehicle stability, both rear wheels receive the same signal.
There are four major componen...

Accessing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
The Bendix Anti-Lock 10 Brake System has self diagnosis capability. The self diagnosis cycle begins when the ignition switch is in the On position. An electrical check is completed on the ABS components such as wheel speed sensor continuity, system continuity and other relay continuity. During this check the Anti-Lock Light will be on for approximately one to two seconds.
The ABS system is constantly monitored by the CAB. If the CAB detects a fault, it can disable the brake system anti-lock function. Depending on the fault the CAB will light ...

Power Brake Units -> Adjustments -> Colt, Colt Vista, Laser, Summit, Summit Wagon & Talon -> PUSHROD ADJUSTMENT
Vehicle: 1993 Chrysler Dynasty 3.3 V6 GAS
PUSHROD ADJUSTMENT
In some cases adjustment of the brake booster pushrod is necessary to ensure proper operation of the power brake system. A pushrod that is too long will cause the master cylinder piston to close off the compensating port, preventing hydraulic pressure from being released and resulting in brake drag. A pushrod that is too short will cause excessive brake pedal travel and cause groaning noises to come from the booster when the...

FRONT & REAR SPLIT HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEMS
When the brake pedal is depressed, both the primary (front brake) and the secondary (rear brake) master cylinder pistons are moved simultaneously to exert hydraulic fluid pressure on their respective independent hydraulic systems. The fluid displacement of the two master cylinders is proportioned to fulfill the requirements of each of the two independent hydraulic brake systems, Fig. .
If a failure of a rear (secondary) brake system should occur, initial brake pedal movement causes the unrestricted secondary piston to bottom in the master cyl...
