The caliper is mounted through bushings and sleeves by two through bolts threaded into an adapter. Two machined abutments on the adapter position and align the caliper fore and aft. - Remove 1/2 of brake fluid from reservoir.
- Raise and support front of vehicle.
- Remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove caliper-to-steering knuckle attaching bolts.
- Remove caliper and brake pads as an assembly by pulling lower end of caliper outward from steering knuckle, then sliding assembly away from braking disc. Suspend caliper with wire to avoid damaging brake hose.

TYPE 1 COMBINATION VALVE
This valve assembly, Fig. , is comprised of a warning switch, and a dual proportioning valve.
The warning switch detects system failure when a pressure difference occurs between the diagonally split systems. In such a case, the valve piston shuttles toward the side with the low pressure forcing the switch plunger upward over the piston's tapered shoulder. This movement closes the switch contacts causing the brake warning lamp to illuminate. Upon restoration of equalized system pressure the brake warning switch will reset.

- Each backing plate has two adjusting hole covers; remove the rear cover and turn the adjusting screw upward with a screwdriver or other suitable tool to expand the shoes until a slight drag is felt when the drum is rotated.
