Component Replacement
Teves model 20 ABS control modules are coded to the vehicle. Replacement control modules must be coded after installation. Refer to "Coding Teves Type 20 Control Module" for procedures.
Prior to servicing the ABS system, always turn the ignition off, disconnect battery negative cable.

- On Fox models, remove heat deflector plate, then disconnect parking brake cable from compensator bar.
- On all models, remove one wheel bolt, then push self adjusting wedge upwards with a suitable screwdriver through wheel bolt hole to back off brake shoes, Fig. .
- Reinstall wheel bolt and tighten to specifications, then remove grease cap with puller tool No. VW 637/2, or equivalent.
