Refer to "Wiring Diagrams" in "Vehicle Systems" to aid diagnosis

RWAL system malfunctions are indicated by a warning lamp on the instrument cluster. If such a malfunction occurs, proceed as follows:

• Inspect brake fluid level and correct as necessary.
• Visually inspect ABS hydraulic and electrical connections and correct as necessary.
• If hydraulic system leaks or weak or corroded electrical connections are not evident, road test vehicle to inspect vehicle for driveability conditions such as low or spongy pedal, brake pulling or grabbing.
• Ensure parki...

Rear Wheel Anti-Lock (RWAL) Brake System

To read diagnostic trouble codes, momentarily ground the diagnostic connector and count the number of flashes of the anti-lock indicator lamp. One long flash will indicate the beginning of the diagnostic trouble code number sequence, followed by short flashes as a continuation of the diagnostic trouble code. The long flash and short flashes must be counted together to determine a stored diagnostic trouble code. Note the following:

• Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
• Disconnect and cap flexible brake line, then remove caliper retaining clips and anti-rattle springs, Fig. .
• Remove caliper from disc by slowly sliding caliper assembly out and away from disc.
