- With compressor secured to a suitable holding fixture and clamped in a vise, remove shaft nut using tools Nos. J-33027-A and J-9399 or equivalents, Fig. .

- Remove engine cover, air cleaner and air inlet duct, as necessary.
- Drain cooling system until radiator coolant level is below thermostat level.
- Remove radiator hose at coolant outlet.
- Remove thermostat housing attaching bolts and ground wire, if applicable.
- Remove thermostat housing, thermostat and gasket.

- Remove carburetor vacuum break to provide clearance, if necessary.
