Component Replacement
These components are non-serviceable and must be replaced as a unit.
Hydraulic Unit
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Mark respective positions of wheel and wheel hub for reassembly, then remove right front wheel assembly.
- Remove wheel-arch inner panel.
- Disconnect all brake lines, numbers one through six from hydraulic unit.
- On all models, disconnect ground wire, then remove mounting bolts from hydraulic-unit holder.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove wheels and brake pads.
- Disconnect brake hydraulic line. Using a suitable device, depress and hold brake pedal to restrict flow of brake fluid from reservoir.
- Remove caliper retaining bolts, caliper, and metal shield.
- Loosen bleeder valve and carefully blow hydraulic fluid out of caliper. The recommended air pressure for fluid removal is 14 psi.
- Position the caliper in a soft jaw vise and remove the clamping ring and dust boot.

- Remove brake booster operating rod lockpin.
- Remove master cylinder attaching bolt from luggage compartment floor plate.
- Drain brake fluid reservoir.
- Disconnect electrical connectors for stop light switch, then disconnect vacuum hose at brake booster and the brake lines at master cylinder.
- Remove brake booster brace upper attaching bolt and the booster base attaching nuts, then remove master cylinder and booster as an assembly. Brace and operating rod do not have to be disconnected at pedal assembly to remove brake booster.
